President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will preside over the National Honours and Awards ceremony today, Monday, December 30, to recognise the exceptional contributions of individuals to Ghana’s progress. The event, one of the final acts of his presidency, will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Nominees are expected to arrive by 11am, according to a letter signed by Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare. The ceremony’s dress code encourages formal or traditional attire, with options such as Kente, Fugu, or suits, reflecting Ghana’s cultural heritage.
Each awardee is allowed to bring two family members to the event. Personal invitations from the president have been sent to all nominees.
The ceremony honours those whose dedication and achievements have made significant contributions to the nation, underscoring the value of service and excellence. There are five categories of awards to be presented:
Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana
Order of the Star of Ghana
Order of the Volta
The Medal for Gallantry
The Grand Medal.
