President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to inaugurate several hospitals today, December 5, 2024, as part of the government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative aimed at expanding healthcare infrastructure across Ghana.

The inauguration will include the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital in Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both located in the Ashanti Region. These hospitals are part of a broader plan to construct 111 district and specialised hospitals nationwide, designed to improve access to quality healthcare services.

Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Presidential Advisor on Health, outlined the significance of these projects, highlighting the modern facilities, advanced medical equipment, and trained personnel that will ensure efficient healthcare delivery.

“These hospitals are fully equipped with 100-bed capacities, accident and emergency centres, neonatal and paediatric units, maternity homes, and other essential services such as pharmacies, laboratories, and X-ray units,” he said. The hospitals also feature departments for eye care, dentistry, ENT, and public health.

Agenda 111 is a key element of President Akufo-Addo’s vision to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system, reduce overcrowding in hospitals, and improve overall health outcomes. Today’s inauguration marks a significant step towards realising this ambitious goal.
