Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister-designate, has pledged to harness his active social media presence to drive good governance and engage with the people of the region. During his vetting on January 27, 2025, Amoakohene was asked about his digital influence and how it could be utilized if appointed as Minister.

Amoakohene emphasized that social media offers an important platform for fostering development and connecting with the youth, an increasingly crucial channel for community engagement. He noted that while traditional community spaces like local gathering centers no longer have the same role, social media now provides an avenue for people to interact and exchange ideas.

“In the past, my father would send me to the community center, where people would gather to play games like ‘Ludo’ and ‘Dame.’ Today, that space has evolved into social media,” he explained. “It’s where we can now engage, share ideas, and build stronger connections.”

While Amoakohene assured the vetting committee that he would not overly rely on social media, he expressed his intention to use these platforms to promote government policies and ensure that young people have a direct channel to communicate with him. He added that a team would be tasked with reviewing messages from the youth to ensure timely responses and support.

“I want to assure the house that social media will not be the only tool I use, but it will certainly help me stay connected to the people I aim to serve,” he said.

Amoakohene’s active participation in the digital space, he explained, has helped him better understand and engage with the youth in the region, positioning him to champion their concerns and encourage their involvement in regional development.
