Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to suspend the ongoing transition process. He cited unresolved parliamentary results in several constituencies, including his own, as the reason for the request.

The Majority Chief Whip expressed concerns over violent disruptions that impacted the collation of results in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency during the December 7 elections. He urged the President to hold off on the transition until the Electoral Commission (EC) officially declares the results for four contested constituencies: Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North. All four constituencies, he claimed, were won by the NPP but are facing challenges over the outcome.

“The transition must be halted immediately until all disputed seats are resolved,” Annoh-Dompreh said. He argued that proceeding with the transition before the issues are settled would undermine the NPP’s parliamentary victories and give the impression that the party’s interests are being overlooked.

While praising the EC for its overall performance during the elections, Annoh-Dompreh stressed the need for clarity in the official declarations to ensure the NPP’s success is safeguarded.

President Akufo-Addo met with President-elect John Mahama earlier today to initiate the transition process.
