Dr. Clement Apaak, Ghana’s Deputy Minister nominee for Education, has underscored the critical role teachers play in the nation’s development, stating that educators are the cornerstone of the country’s educational system. He pledged that, if appointed, he would prioritize increasing teachers’ salaries above those of any other profession.
Speaking before the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 25, Dr.Apaak stressed that teachers are the most essential group within Ghana’s professional landscape. He pointed out that everyone present in the vetting session was a product of teachers’ dedication and hard work.
“I honestly believe that teachers are the most important in the scheme of affairs; all of us here gathered are products of teachers,” he said during his testimony.
Dr. Apaak further expressed his deep admiration for the teaching profession and emphasized that if he had access to the necessary resources, he would ensure that teachers received higher compensation than any other professional group.
“If I had my own pot of resources, I would pay teachers more than any group of professions, but I don’t,” he added.
