Nigerian music sensations Asake and Ayra Starr have been named the most streamed artists in Nigeria on Spotify for 2024, according to the annual “Spotify Wrapped” report released on Wednesday by Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa.
In the male category, the top ten most streamed artists in Nigeria this year include Asake, Seyi Vibez, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, Bnxn, ODUMODUBLVCK, Shallipopi, Davido, and Young Jonn. For female artists, the list features Ayra Starr, Tems, Qing Madi, Billie Eilish, SZA, Tiwa Savage, Bloody Civilian, Rihanna, Simi, and Fave.
The report also highlighted the ten most streamed tracks in Nigeria, which are:
- “Dealer” by Ayo Maff and Fireboy
- “Different Pattern” by Seyi Vibez
- “Higher” by Burna Boy
- “WOTO WOTO SEASONING” by ODUMODUBLVCK and Black Sherif
- “Aquafina” by Young Jonn

- “Egwu” by Chike and Mohbad
- “Instagram” by Muyeez and Seyi Vibez

Okumu noted that for the fourth consecutive year, Nigerian artists have dominated the top 10 most streamed lists, showcasing the nation’s enduring love for its homegrown talent. Asake not only topped the Nigerian charts but was also recognized as the most streamed artist in Sub-Saharan Africa, with significant popularity in Gambia and Benin.
The report highlighted that Asake, alongside other artists like Burna Boy, Shallipopi, and Seyi Vibez, has captivated a wide demographic, appealing to listeners aged 13 to over 55.
Emerging talents Ayo Maff and Muyeez have also made their mark on the most streamed tracks list with their songs “Dealer” and “Instagram,” respectively, signaling a promising future for the Nigerian music industry.
Okumu emphasized Nigeria’s vibrant music scene as a global force, stating, “Spotify is always honored to showcase the depth of Nigerian music and its incredible talents through ‘Wrapped’ each year.
