Amazon Web Services (AWS) will begin charging Value Added Tax (VAT) and additional levies on its cloud services in Ghana from March 1, 2025.

The company confirmed that a 15% VAT will be applied to all sales of its services to Ghanaian customers, alongside a 6% levy that covers the National Health Insurance Levy, the Ghana Education Trust Fund Levy, and the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy.

The move aligns with Ghana’s tax regulations and will increase operational costs for businesses and individuals relying on AWS for cloud computing infrastructure.

AWS has advised customers to update their accounts with their Tax Registration Number (TRN) to facilitate VAT deductions and comply with the new charges.
