A reshuffle within the Majority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament is underway following the approval of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Governs Agbodza as ministers in President John Dramani Mahama’s government.

Sources suggest that Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, is expected to replace Dr. Ato Forson as Majority Leader. Ayariga, a veteran lawmaker, is seen as bringing a new dynamism to the role, which is crucial for fostering effective coordination between the Executive and Parliament.

South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is anticipated to succeed Governs Agbodza as Majority Chief Whip, where he will play a key role in securing parliamentary support for government policies.

In addition, Cape Coast South MP Kweku Ricketts-Hagan is tipped to take over as Deputy Majority Leader from Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, while Ada MP Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah is likely to be promoted to First Deputy Whip.

The reshuffle comes at a critical time for the Majority Caucus, as the party looks to strengthen its leadership structure and maintain momentum amid the demands of governance.

Dr. Forson, recently sworn in as Finance Minister, and Agbodza, who now heads the Ministry of Roads and Highways, are both expected to play central roles in shaping Ghana’s economic recovery and infrastructure development.

The reshuffle reflects the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President Mahama’s broader strategy to ensure effective parliamentary oversight and governance as they move forward with their legislative agenda.
