Mahama Ayariga, the newly appointed Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has pledged to honor the legacies of his predecessors as he steps into his new role.

In a statement released on January 23, Ayariga emphasized that the leadership styles and accomplishments of former National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus leaders will serve as his guiding principles. He succeeds Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who has taken up the position of Finance Minister.

“I am guided by the illustrious precedents set by former distinguished leaders of our caucus,” Ayariga said. He went on to highlight the leadership of figures such as current Speaker Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, Hon. Cletus Avoka, Hon. Benjamin Kunbuor, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and most recently, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, as key influences on his approach.

The new Majority Leader also reaffirmed the NDC caucus’s commitment to advancing President John Dramani Mahama’s agenda to “reset Ghana,” signaling a continuation of the party’s priorities in Parliament.
