Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has stated that he is unaware of any intelligence suggesting that Dr. Ernest Addison, the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, was involved in spying on the central bank.

In a press briefing on Monday, March 24, Mr.Ayine emphasized that he had not received any briefings from the National Security apparatus regarding the claims made over the weekend by retired Colonel Festus Aboagye.

Retired Colonel Festus Aboagye, a former military officer, had alleged that Dr. Addison had installed electronic surveillance equipment at his residence, which was purportedly linked to the Bank of Ghana for remote monitoring. However, Ayine refrained from confirming the allegation, stressing that he had not engaged in any discussions with national security officials on the matter.

“From a technical standpoint, I cannot confirm that fact,” Dr. Ayine said. “I haven’t held any conversations with national security on that specific issue, and I will not comment further.”
