Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has given a Member of Parliament (MP) one week to come forward regarding a controversial comment made in the House, referring to someone as the “daughter of a murderer.” Bagbin described the remark, made recently, as “reckless” and “deeply disturbing,” stating that it tarnishes the dignity and decorum of Parliament.

In a speech on Tuesday, March 4, Mr.Bagbin announced that a formal investigation would be launched to identify the MP responsible.

He warned that failure to comply with the ultimatum would result in serious consequences. The Majority Leader supported the Speaker’s call for accountability, emphasizing that if the MP does not voluntarily take responsibility, the House would back the imposition of the highest sanctions once the investigation concludes.

The comment has ignited widespread outrage, with many calling for stronger enforcement of parliamentary conduct. Bagbin reiterated his commitment to maintaining the integrity of the parliamentary institution.
