Joyce Bawah Mogtari, spokesperson for President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has dismissed claims that Dr. Callistus Abukari Mahama is related to the President-elect.

In a Facebook post on December 12, 2024, Bawah Mogtari clarified that there are no familial connections between the two. “Dr. Callistus Abukari Mahama has no familial relations with President-elect John Dramani Mahama. Kindly take note,” she wrote.

The clarification follows allegations made by New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Nii Ayikoi Otoo, who suggested in an interview that Dr. Callistus Mahama was a relative of John Mahama after being appointed to the President-elect’s transition team.

Bawah Mogtari also responded in the post’s comment section, accusing Otoo of spreading false information. “The NPP big man has told a lie to the whole world, and that is unfair and wrong,” she said.

Dr. Callistus Mahama, a respected public administrator and academic, was appointed as a member and Secretary of the Transition Team. He previously served as the Head of the Local Government Service during John Mahama’s tenure as President.
