Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of Ghana, has donated 250 packets of roofing sheets, totaling 5,000 pieces, to help traders at Kantamanto Market recover from a devastating fire. The donation, which also includes ridge caps, was delivered on his behalf by former Greater Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover and his team.

Earlier, Dr. Bawumia contributed GH¢200,000 to assist with the immediate recovery efforts of the affected traders. Speaking to Citi News, Titus Glover emphasized the importance of traders securing insurance to protect their businesses from future disasters.

He also announced that once the market’s reconstruction is complete, Dr. Bawumia would support the installation of CCTV cameras to improve security in the area.

Yaw Sarpong, the Financial Secretary of the Kantamanto Market, expressed appreciation for the donation, saying the roofing sheets would be more than sufficient to repair their structures. He thanked Dr. Bawumia for his continued support.
