Ghanaian DStv subscribers are about to get way more value for their money.
Starting October 1, 2025, DStv customers across Ghana will receive automatic upgrades across all subscription packages — a result of weeks-long negotiations between the Ghanaian government and MultiChoice Africa.
At a press conference on Monday, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, announced the landmark deal that he says will offer “real, measurable value” to households nationwide.
“I went into this with a request for a 30% value increase. What we now have — the lowest being 33% and the highest 50% — is something worth celebrating,” George said.
The agreement follows a growing outcry from consumers and advocacy by the National Communications Authority (NCA) for more affordable entertainment options amid Ghana’s rising cost of living. MultiChoice, which owns DStv, has responded with what George called a “goodwill gesture.”
Here’s What You’re Getting
If you’re a current subscriber — or thinking of signing up — here’s a breakdown of what the new value upgrades look like:
Padi Bouquet (GHS59): Automatically upgraded to the Access Bouquet (GHS99) — that’s 35 extra channels and a 40% value boost.
Access Bouquet (GHS99): Moves up to the Family Bouquet (GHS190) — 19 more channels and 48% more value.
Family Bouquet (GHS190): Upgraded to Compact Bouquet (GHS380), adding 22 new channels including live football. That’s a 50% value increase.
Compact Bouquet (GHS380): Leveled up to Compact Plus (GHS570) with 12 additional channels — 33% more value.
Compact Plus (GHS570): Bumped up to Premium (GHS865), adding 18 more channels — a 34% value boost.
And for those already paying for Premium (GHS865)? You’ll keep all your premium perks plus automatic entry into a promotion for fully paid trips to watch select English Premier League matches. (Terms and conditions apply.)
And New Customers? You’re Getting a Deal Too.
In addition to the subscription upgrades, MultiChoice is slashing prices for new users.
The Zapper decoder and dish kit package will now cost GHS555 — down 50% from its original price — making it even easier for first-time customers to access DStv’s growing catalogue of content.
“This is yet another 50 percent discount for subscribers,” the Minister said. “The government of President Mahama is on your side, and MultiChoice is a responsible business operating in Ghana.”
No Strings Attached
The offer is open to all subscribers — new and existing — starting October 1, 2025. And importantly, there’s no restriction on bouquet choice, so consumers can move between packages as they see fit.
The deal is being celebrated as a rare example of effective public-private negotiation, with government pressure yielding real consumer benefits.
And for now, Ghanaian DStv users can sit back, grab the remote, and enjoy more for less.
