Dr. Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, will begin his terminal leave on February 3, 2025, ahead of his official retirement on March 28, 2025.

Dr. Addison, who was first appointed as Governor on April 3, 2017, and reappointed for a second term on March 29, 2021, has completed two full terms in office. His retirement is in accordance with the provisions of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612), which outlines the tenure of the central bank’s Governor.

In a statement from the Bank of Ghana’s Communications Department, it was confirmed that Dr. Addison had opted to take his accumulated leave prior to retirement, a decision approved by President John Dramani Mahama.

The Bank of Ghana expressed its gratitude for Dr. Addison’s distinguished service, noting his significant contributions to monetary policy, financial sector reforms, and efforts to stabilize the national economy. The central bank extended its best wishes for a well-deserved retirement.

Dr. Addison’s departure marks the end of an era at the Bank of Ghana, with attention now turning to the appointment of his successor in the coming weeks.
