BoG’s 2nd deputy Governor Elsie Awadzi retires

Elsie Addo Awadzi, the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has announced her decision to retire from the central bank, effective February 28, 2025.

The retirement was confirmed in a statement issued by the Presidency on Friday, February 7, 2025. President John Dramani Mahama has accepted her early retirement and expressed gratitude for her distinguished service to both the Bank of Ghana and the country.

In the statement, President Mahama commended Awadzi for her significant contributions to Ghana’s financial sector, particularly in the areas of monetary policy, financial stability, and economic governance. He extended his best wishes for her future endeavours, acknowledging her role in shaping the nation’s economic landscape.

“Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi has made invaluable contributions to the Bank and the Republic, and we wish her continued success in her future pursuits,” the statement read.
