Burkina Faso’s President Congratulates John Dramani Mahama on Election Victory

Burkina Faso’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has congratulated John Dramani Mahama on his projected victory in Ghana’s December 7, 2024, presidential election.

In a message posted on social media platform X, Captain Traoré praised Mahama’s decisive success and expressed hope for further strengthening the longstanding ties between Ghana and Burkina Faso.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama for his resounding victory in the presidential election on Saturday, December 7, 2024,” Traoré wrote. “I hope that his term as the head of the sister Republic of Ghana will strengthen our centuries-old relations of good-neighbourliness and that together we will build a stronger and more integrated sub-regional space for the benefit of our people.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana and candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), officially conceded defeat on Sunday, December 8. In a gracious address, Bawumia acknowledged the election result and congratulated Mahama on his victory.
