CalBank Appoints Johnson Oware as Deputy Managing Director

CalBank PLC has announced the appointment of Johnson Oware as its new Deputy Managing Director, effective 20 January 2025.

Oware, a banking executive with over 20 years of experience, will oversee the growth of the bank’s corporate, commercial, and retail operations. His appointment comes as the bank seeks to expand its footprint and enhance its service offerings across these key segments.

Previously, Oware held the position of Head of Corporate Banking at Ecobank Ghana PLC, where he led teams in driving business development and achieving notable results across various business sectors. His career spans multiple countries and includes expertise in areas such as digital banking, structured trade, and commodity finance.

Joe Mensah, Chairman of CalBank’s Board, welcomed Oware to the team, saying: “Johnson’s extensive experience and high performance make him an ideal addition as we look ahead to significant growth for the bank.”

In response, Oware expressed his excitement at joining CalBank, stating: “I look forward to contributing to the bank’s growth and delivering value to all stakeholders.”

Oware holds a BSc in Administration from the University of Ghana, an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester, and a Diploma in Public-Private Partnership from the University of Reading.

CalBank’s appointment of Oware is expected to bolster its efforts to position itself for continued growth and success in the coming years.
