A press conference organised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi, led by Organiser Joseph Yamin, was abruptly disrupted by a group of angry youth midway through the event.

The young men stormed the venue, visibly upset, and confronted Mr Yamin and his team, accusing them of paying lip service to some disturbing reports.

They accused the leadership of failing to act on claims of individuals posing as military personnel being deployed to 32 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

Joseph Yamin had earlier warned at the press conference that the party would resist any attempts to use the military to create unrest.

But the aggrieved group demanded more action than a press conference.

Amid the commotion, one of the individuals kicked over a table, shouting, “This is foolish talk. If you want your party to come to power, what do you have to do?”

“This is not how you go about it,” he said as they demanded that the gathering be disbanded.

The unexpected disruption forced the press conference to end prematurely, leaving attendees, including some party officials and members of the media, scrambling to exit the room.

After they cleared the room, the group locked up Joseph Yamin and the NDC Ashanti Regional Vice Chair John Kwame Jabari as some more noise was heard.

The NDC has not yet commented on the development.
