The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has revealed that close to 210,000 temporary officials have been enlisted for the 2024 elections. These officials, ranging from returning officers to polling assistants, have been recruited to oversee operations at over 40,900 polling stations across the country.

In a meeting with security officials ahead of the December 7 elections, the EC Chairperson emphasized that the recruited officials are currently undergoing comprehensive training, with the introduction of aide memoires to aid them in their duties.

“We have developed aide memoires this year for our staff, providing basic instructions on key aspects of their work based on feedback from our officers on the ground and election observation missions,” stated Mensa on November 26, 2024.

The EC further disclosed that all Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) designated for use in the 2024 elections will be securely protected by the police by the conclusion of the weekend.
