Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has submitted his resignation in response to a recent government directive ordering the dissolution of boards for all State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

In his resignation letter to President John Dramani Mahama, Aidoo expressed his gratitude to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and the Ghanaian public for entrusting him with the leadership of COCOBOD for the past eight years.

Although his appointment was set to end in July 2025, Aidoo chose to step down earlier to facilitate a smooth leadership transition and allow business partners to engage with his successor. He emphasized his ongoing commitment to Ghana’s cocoa sector and pledged to support any necessary transition processes.

COCOBOD plays a critical role in the management and regulation of Ghana’s cocoa industry, a major export and economic driver for the country.
