Cynthia Morrison, Member of Parliament for Agona West, has reiterated her allegiance to Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), despite contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming December 7 election.
In a press briefing on Thursday, Morrison affirmed her position, stating, “I am still an MP on the ticket of the NPP, thank you.” Her remarks come amid a recent controversy after four parliamentary seats, including hers, were declared vacant.
The other MPs affected include Kwadwo Asante (Suhum), Andrew Asiamah (Fomena), and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central). All four MPs are at risk of losing their seats; however, a Supreme Court intervention has temporarily halted any immediate action.
