Dumelo to Agric Minister:I can’t wait to begin working with you

John Setor Dumelo, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with Eric Opoku, the newly appointed Minister of Food and Agriculture, following his nomination as Deputy Minister of the sector.

In a social media post on February 6, 2025, Dumelo shared his eagerness to begin his official duties in the agriculture ministry. Responding to congratulations from Opoku, Dumelo praised his new superior, stating, “Thanks so much, Senior. Can’t wait to begin working with you to transform the agric sector. I have always admired you and your contributions. Have an amazing morning, my boss.”

On February 5, 2025, President John Mahama nominated Dumelo for the role of Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture. The announcement was made by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President.

Dumelo, an actor-turned-politician and a professional farmer, is serving his first term in Parliament under the National Democratic Congress (NDC). His nomination signals a new chapter in his political career, as he seeks to leverage his agricultural expertise to support the revitalization of Ghana’s agricultural sector.
