The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has unveiled the 2025 DV plates, introducing enhanced security features aimed at preventing fraud and ensuring the authenticity of vehicle registration.
Julius Neequaye Kotey, the Acting Chief Executive of DVLA, highlighted that the new plates represent a significant advancement in Ghana’s vehicle registration system. “We are excited to introduce the 2025 DV plate, which marks a major improvement in vehicle registration and licensing in Ghana. The new plate demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance security and convenience for its customers,” he said.
The upgraded plates include features such as holograms, watermarks, and QR codes designed to combat counterfeiting and safeguard vehicle owners.
The new plates are available for purchase at all DVLA operational offices nationwide, with vehicle owners, automobile dealers, and agents now able to acquire them.
In a related move, the DVLA, in collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, has issued a stern warning against the use and sale of counterfeit DV plates. Authorities are actively pursuing and prosecuting those involved in the illegal trade of fake plates.
