The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has urged political stakeholders and the public to remain patient as it continues to verify the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections.

At a press conference on Sunday, December 8, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa reassured the nation that the official results will be announced once the verification process is complete. She explained that the commission is working within a 72-hour window to ensure the accuracy of the results.

Mensa’s comments came in response to calls from Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who urged the EC to expedite the declaration of results following the concession of defeat by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“The process is elaborate, involving political parties and their agents, and we are committed to ensuring transparency and accuracy,” Mensa said. “We ask for patience as we complete this vital task. Results will be declared as soon as they are ready, and no later than 72 hours.”

She confirmed that results from the Ahafo Region have been received, with the commission still working on results from other regions.
