EC Deputy Chairperson: 99% of Polling Stations Opened on Time at 7am

Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of operations, has confirmed that voting began at 99% of polling stations across Ghana at 7am on Election Day.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, December 7, Tettey expressed satisfaction with the smooth start of the elections, crediting effective logistical arrangements and preparations for ensuring timely openings.

He also assured the public that adequate security personnel were deployed to all polling stations, with collaboration between the EC and security agencies playing a key role in maintaining order.

Tettey urged voters to remain patient and follow polling station guidelines, expressing confidence in the EC’s ability to conduct a credible, peaceful, and transparent election.
