The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has suspended the re-collation of presidential and parliamentary election results at the Tesano Police Depot. The process, which aimed to address constituencies where the original collation did not follow legal procedures or could not be completed on Election Day, has been put on hold “until further notice.”
In a statement released on December 13, Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, explained that the suspension was due to disruptions caused by political party supporters, which affected the collation process during and after Election Day.
The EC had moved the re-collation process to the Tesano Police Depot after consultations with the Inspector General of Police and his team. Political party agents were present to observe the proceedings, which successfully resulted in the collation and declaration of results for the Fanteakwa North, Akwatia, and Suhum constituencies.
The Commission urged all stakeholders to work cooperatively with its officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
