In a call for unity and reconciliation, President John Dramani Mahama appealed to residents of Bawku to embrace peace as they observe Ramadan.
Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration hosted by the National Chief Imam at Accra’s Black Star Square, Mahama underscored that the holy month should be a time for healing, not division.
Addressing the ongoing tensions in Bawku, the President implored all parties involved to set aside their differences and work towards a lasting peace. He stressed that prolonged conflict only obstructs progress and undermines development, severely impacting the lives of innocent civilians.
“Ramadan is a time for togetherness, for reflection on the values of love, forgiveness, and harmony. Let us use this sacred occasion to come together as one,” Mr.Mahama said.
The President also called on religious and traditional leaders in the region to take a more active role in fostering dialogue and promoting peace. He assured the people of Bawku that his government remains firmly committed to restoring stability and peace to the area.
“Together, we can build a stronger and more united community,” President Mahama concluded.
