Election Rigging Impossible in Ghana- EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has firmly rejected allegations of collusion with any political party to manipulate the upcoming December 7 general elections.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) recently accused the EC of working with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to influence voting outcomes in the Ashanti Region.

Addressing these claims at a security symposium at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, the EC’s Head of Training, dismissed them as unfounded. He reassured the public that the current electoral system is foolproof, designed to prevent any attempts at rigging.

“There is no way an election in Ghana can be rigged,” Dr. Quaicoe stated. “The process is transparent, and at every stage, the people are involved. For rigging to occur, all stakeholders, including party agents, would need to be compromised. This is simply not possible in our system.”

He acknowledged that while irregularities or fraudulent activities may occur, the integrity of the election itself remains secure.
