EPA Issues Immediate Ban on Illegal Mining Activities

Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued an urgent directive ordering an immediate halt to all illegal mining activities, both small- and large-scale, due to growing concerns over the damage to the country’s water bodies and natural resources.

The EPA expressed alarm over the increasing environmental destruction caused by illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, and its impact on public health. The agency emphasized that all mining activities must adhere to Ghana’s environmental regulations, which require the acquisition of proper permits and the implementation of sustainable practices.
