The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has confirmed that the inaugural direct flight from London Gatwick to Kumasi, initially scheduled for December 3, 2024, has been delayed.

In a statement, GACL attributed the delay to short notice, noting that the flight will now arrive later this week. The new service, launched in collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines, represents a significant milestone in improving connectivity between Ghana and the United Kingdom, with Kumasi becoming the first Ghanaian city outside of Accra to receive direct international flights.

Although the revised date for the inaugural flight has not yet been announced, GACL assured the public that the second scheduled flight, set for December 15, 2024, will proceed as planned.

This new route is expected to boost tourism, trade, and investment opportunities in Kumasi and its surrounding regions, supporting regional development. Travelers have been advised to monitor updates through GACL’s official channels.
