The Attorney General of Ghana, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has revealed that Osei Assibey Antwi, the former Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), allegedly paid a Member of Parliament (MP) to suppress media coverage of the infamous “ghost names” scandal.

During a recent update on ongoing investigations into the scandal, Dr. Ayine confirmed that significant progress has been made in uncovering corruption tied to the National Service Scheme. According to Ayine, eight suspects have been interrogated, and several have provided critical evidence that links top NSA executives to financial misconduct involving private vendors.

The Attorney General also shared that new evidence shows payments were made to the accounts of NSA executives by these private vendors. In a particularly concerning revelation, Dr. Ayine disclosed that in November 2024, the CEO of the National Service Scheme and other officials allegedly made payments to an MP to prevent the story from spreading in the media.

Investigations are ongoing, with the Attorney General suggesting that both the National Service and Sky Train scandals should be ready for prosecution by mid-April.
