Police in Ghana have arrested four men in connection with the fatal shooting of a mobile money vendor in the town of Aflao, in the Volta Region.
The suspects — named as Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national — were detained during a coordinated operation on 10 May, according to a police statement released on Monday.
The arrests followed a joint effort involving the Regional Police Intelligence Department, the SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and a local watch group called Action Now.
The incident took place on 28 April at around 18:15 local time, when five armed men reportedly attacked and shot Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor, near the Diamond Cement factory in the Gbagblakope area of Aflao.
The attackers are said to have made off with a bag believed to contain cash.
The suspects are due to appear in court on Tuesday, 13 May.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any information that could help combat crime in the region.
