The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has terminated the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), effective immediately.
The announcement was made on March 4, 2025, by Gender Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, who expressed appreciation for the work of the coordinators but did not provide any official reason for the abrupt decision.
A statement released by the Ministry simply stated, “Please be informed that the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) are hereby terminated with immediate effect.” Affected staff members have been instructed to report to the GSFP Secretariat to collect their termination letters and complete the necessary handover procedures.

The Ghana School Feeding Programme, a vital initiative designed to provide free meals to schoolchildren in a bid to improve enrollment, attendance, and nutrition, has long been a key social intervention in the country.
However, it has also faced recurring challenges, including delays in funding, allegations of corruption, and unpaid arrears to caterers. The recent shakeup only adds to the growing concerns surrounding the program’s effectiveness and stability.
