More than 4,000 young entrepreneurs across Ghana have been awarded grants under the second phase of the Ghana Enterprises Agency’s (GEA) YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project.
With a total disbursement of over 52 million Ghanaian cedis, this latest round of funding is aimed at supporting youth-led businesses with the financial backing and mentorship needed for sustainable growth.
Dubbed the “Biggest Grant and Mentoring Expo,” the Phase 2 disbursement marks a key milestone in the government’s commitment to tackling youth unemployment through entrepreneurship. Speaking at the official signing ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre, GEA CEO Kosi Yankey-Ayeh emphasized the dual focus on financial support and mentorship as essential tools for empowering Ghana’s youth to drive economic progress.
“Today’s ceremony is not just about signing grant agreements; it is about a meaningful commitment to the future of Ghana, built on the determination and potential of our young entrepreneurs,” said Yankey-Ayeh.
The government-led YouStart Initiative, in partnership with the World Bank, is designed to fund and provide technical support for young Ghanaian entrepreneurs. Since its inception, over 50,000 youth have received various levels of training through the programme, including basic, intermediate, and advanced entrepreneurship courses.
With Phase 2 grants set to benefit 4,174 entrepreneurs, the programme aims to foster a new generation of business leaders who can help drive economic growth and stability across the nation.
