Ghana National Honours 2024: Full List of Award Recipients

Ghana’s most distinguished citizens were celebrated at the 2024 National Honours and Awards ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, December 30.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented awards to individuals whose contributions to national development have been marked by dedication, resilience, and sacrifice. Established in 1960, the National Honours ceremony recognises Ghanaians excelling in various fields, including health, education, public service, and the creative arts.

This year’s ceremony was particularly significant, as it acknowledged the exceptional efforts of individuals who responded to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time, the Presidential Honours and Awards for Distinguished Service were presented to those who demonstrated outstanding resilience during the global health crisis.

The awards are given in several categories, including the Order of the Volta, the Order of the Star of Ghana, and the Presidential Honours for Distinguished Service.

Order of the Star of Ghana – Officer Award The only recipient of the Order of the Star of Ghana – Officer Award was Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Order of the Volta – Member Awardees A total of 32 individuals received the Order of the Volta – Member Award for their significant contributions across various sectors. Notable recipients include:

Nana Kwasi Agyekum Dwamena (Public Service)

Prof. Paul Kwame Nyame (Health/Public Service)

Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay (Real Estate/Construction)

Bright Appiah (Civil Society/Child Advocacy)

Herbert A. Mensah (Sports Development)

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum (Public Service)

Godfred Yeboah Dame (Public Service)

Dr. Kwaku Afriyie (Public Service)

Grand Medal Awardees Several prominent individuals were awarded the Grand Medal for their achievements, including:

Mariama Mahama (Education)

Albert K. Frimpong (Sports)

Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn (Media/Media Education)

Dr. Fareeda Adusei Wilson (Health/Public Service)

Dr. Nick Danso Abiam Adjei (Business/Entrepreneurship)

These individuals, along with many others, were recognised for their exceptional service in fields ranging from education to public service and entrepreneurship.

The 2024 National Honours ceremony provided a moment to reflect on the outstanding efforts made by Ghanaians in advancing the nation’s development across diverse sectors.
