Ghana’s newly sworn-in President, John Dramani Mahama, has reassured the business community that the country is once again “open for business.”
In his inaugural address on January 7, 2025, Mahama called on business leaders and entrepreneurs to support his administration’s new economic model, which aims to foster a more vibrant and inclusive business environment. He emphasized the importance of creating a space where innovation and investment could thrive, ultimately benefiting the nation as a whole.
“Your role in driving our economy forward cannot be overstated. Your creativity and dedication will form the backbone of our success,” Mahama told the audience.
A key element of his vision is the introduction of a “24-hour economy,” designed to boost local industries, create jobs, and attract foreign investment. The model aims to unlock the potential of Ghana’s people, particularly young entrepreneurs, and empower them to contribute to the country’s growth.
The President also highlighted plans to review and streamline the tax system, ensuring it is transparent, fair, and conducive to business development.
“We are committed to building an inclusive, equitable society where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed,” Mahama said, underlining his administration’s commitment to a prosperous future for Ghana through collaboration with the business community.
