The Ghana Police Service has introduced traffic management measures in anticipation of large rallies by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, December 5.
The NDC rally will be held at Zurak Park in Madina, while the NPP gathers at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon. To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, the police have implemented route diversions and increased security around both venues.
NPP supporters traveling from Adenta will be diverted at Ritz Junction, taking routes through Aviation and UPSA to reach Okponglo and then Legon. Those coming from Dome will follow an alternate route via Haatso Junction, GIMPA, and towards the university.
For NDC supporters, those coming from Tetteh Quarshie Interchange will take a right turn at Shiashie, continue to UPSA, and turn left to join the Madina main road. Supporters from Dome will be redirected at the KFC Junction on Haatso Road, continuing toward Wisconsin University and Zongo Junction.
A roadblock will be placed in front of the NDC venue to regulate traffic, with police officers positioned along key routes to assist motorists and pedestrians. Authorities have urged both parties to ensure that supporters remain peaceful, stressing that public safety is the top priority.
The police have called for cooperation from the public to minimize disruptions and ensure orderly rallies.
