The Ghana Police Service has dismissed claims of unrest in Nsawam Adoagyiri, following the circulation of a viral video suggesting protests related to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) re-collation exercise.

In a statement released on December 21, the Police described the allegations as “baseless,” clarifying that the events depicted in the video, which showed individuals blocking roads and setting fires, had no connection to the re-collation process, which took place in Accra on the same day.

The Police urged the public to disregard the video and refrain from spreading unverified information that could provoke unnecessary panic.

The statement further emphasized that the reported incident, which occurred on December 8, is currently under investigation. The Police also assured the public that there is a strong security presence in Nsawam Adoagyiri to maintain peace and order during the ongoing electoral process.

The Police urged citizens to remain calm and avoid disseminating false or misleading reports.
