The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has announced the resumption of meal services for pupils in public basic schools across the country, as the 2025 academic year begins.
In a statement released on January 13, the GSFP confirmed that caterers are to restart meal provision following the reopening of schools on January 8. The programme, which provides a daily nutritious meal to students, currently serves over four million children in underserved areas.

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), in partnership with the GSFP, also revealed plans to introduce a new caterer procurement process under the current administration. This initiative aims to improve the programme’s efficiency and long-term sustainability.
Additionally, the National Coordinator highlighted that significant progress had been made in settling outstanding payments to caterers. Payments for the entire third term of the 2023/2024 academic year have been completed, with 40 of the 71 cooking days owed for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year also settled. The remaining 31 days are expected to be paid soon.
The GSFP has called on stakeholders, including community leaders, to support caterers in fulfilling their duties without any obstacles.
