The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, has delivered a sharp criticism of Ghana’s current state under President Akufo-Addo’s administration, describing the nation as being in a dire situation of mismanagement and suffering.

In an interview with GHOne TV, Nana Boadi accused the government of leaving the country “stripped naked” and “bleeding” due to the actions of what he called “lootings,” calling for urgent intervention to restore the country.

“Ghana has been stripped naked; mother Ghana is bleeding,” Nana Boadi said. He drew a comparison between the country’s situation and the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan, emphasizing the need for swift redemption and healing.

“The robbers have stolen all the goodies. But a Good Samaritan has come to rescue her, put her in a healthy and happy situation, and recover the loot that the robbers took,” he added.

The chief expressed hope for the return of former President John Mahama, viewing it as a form of divine intervention that could help revitalize the country.

“We thank God that the good Lord is about to give the mantle to President John Mahama,” Nana Boadi said, highlighting his belief that Mahama’s leadership could restore the nation’s fortunes.

Reflecting on President Akufo-Addo’s administration, Nana Boadi criticized what he saw as squandered opportunities and poor governance, asserting that the president had failed to capitalize on significant revenues to improve the country.

“He had so much revenue, so much he could have done for this country, but he failed,” he lamented.

The traditional leader also revealed that many of his peers shared his dissatisfaction with the current administration. He recalled a conversation with a fellow chief who remarked, “Let’s see if he will come around and instruct chiefs to wake up to greet him,” describing the president’s legacy as unremarkable.

Looking to the future, Nana Boadi expressed hope for improved governance, saying, “We pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be president of Ghana.”
