Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, widely recognized by his stage name Koo Ofori and known for his role in Ghana’s long-running television sitcom “Efiewura,” was taken into custody by Accra Central Police this week on allegations of fraud involving a $50,000 transaction.

According to police sources, Mr. Karikari allegedly received the funds from a Ghanaian national residing in California under the pretense of a legitimate investment venture. Authorities claim the actor failed to honor the terms of the agreement and subsequently became unreachable, prompting the victim to report the matter to law enforcement.

Investigators say Mr. Karikari ignored summons to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025. His failure to comply led the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

Footage shared by Atinka TV on social media appears to show Mr. Karikari being escorted in handcuffs by police officers. He is currently in custody and was initially expected to be arraigned on May 9. The hearing has since been postponed to Monday, May 12.
