Ghanaian Music Legend Daddy Lumba Passes Away at 60

Ghana has been thrown into mourning following the death of celebrated highlife musician Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu. The iconic artiste reportedly passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after a prolonged illness. He was 60 years old.

Daddy Lumba, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential musicians, carved a niche in the music industry with his unique blend of traditional highlife rhythms and contemporary sounds. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he released over 30 albums, producing classics such as Aben Wo Ha, Theresa, Dangerous and Sika Asem.

News of his death has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans, music lovers and public figures across the country. Tributes describe him as a cultural icon who shaped the evolution of modern highlife music and inspired generations of artistes.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
