Ghanaian nationals will now be able to travel to Morocco without the need for a traditional visa, following a new bilateral agreement between the two countries.

The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a Facebook post on Thursday. The new arrangement takes immediate effect and replaces the previous visa system with a simplified online travel authorisation process.
Under the revised system, Ghanaians can apply online and receive authorisation within 24 hours, removing the need for embassy appointments and lengthy processing times.

Mr Ablakwa described the development as “one of the significant agreements” reached during a two-day working visit to Rabat, where he held talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.
With direct flights already in operation between Accra and Casablanca, officials expect the visa waiver to strengthen trade, tourism, and cultural ties between the two nations.
“The borders in Africa must not be allowed to divide us — they can be bridges of connectivity,” Mr Ablakwa said.
The move is seen as part of a broader effort to deepen regional cooperation and mobility across the continent.
