Inflation in Ghana saw a slight increase in October, rising to 22.1% from 21.5% in September, according to the Ghana Statistical Service.
Food and non-food inflation both edged up, reaching 22.8% and 21.5% respectively. Locally produced items experienced a sharper rise, with inflation moving to 24.6% in October from 23.4% in the previous month. In contrast, imported items saw a modest decline, with inflation easing to 16.3% from September’s 17.0%.
Government Statistician Prof. Samuel Annim addressed the latest figures in a press briefing, noting that October’s inflation rate marks a 0.6 percentage point increase compared to September.
“Breaking down the overall inflation rate, we recorded 22.8% for food items and 21.5% for non-food items in October,” he said. He further explained that food inflation rose by 0.7 percentage points, increasing from 22.1% in September, while non-food inflation saw a 0.6 percentage point rise from 20.9% in the previous month.
