The Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Azumah Djietro, has confirmed that Ghana’s Ninth Parliament will meet for its first sitting at 12:05 am on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, immediately following the dissolution of the Eighth Parliament.

The session will focus on electing the new Speaker of Parliament and two deputies. It will also be an occasion for administering the oaths of office to the newly elected Members of Parliament and the Speaker.

In preparation for the new government, Parliament has already approved the 2025 mini-budget. The outgoing government is set to hand over power to President-elect John Mahama later on January 7.
