Ghana Health Service has confirmed 10 new cases of Mpox, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 19.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says five of the new cases are currently receiving treatment in hospital. No deaths have been recorded so far.
Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox, is a viral disease that spreads through close contact with infected people, animals, or contaminated materials. Symptoms typically include fever, rash, swollen lymph nodes, muscle aches, back pain, headaches, and fatigue.
The GHS has stepped up surveillance and public education in response to the outbreak, urging citizens to take preventive measures seriously.
Officials are advising the public to wash hands frequently, avoid contact with individuals showing symptoms—particularly those with unexplained rashes—and to report suspected cases to health facilities promptly.
