“Go back to your village” – Edem replies fan who begged him for GHC2K for rent

Iconic Ghanaian rapper Denning Edem Hotor better known as Edem has faced backlash online after a tense Instagram Live session where he rejected financial requests from fans.

One fan asked Edem for GH¢2,000 to cover rent, citing difficulties finding accommodation. Edem dismissed the plea, advising the fan to take personal responsibility and even suggested returning to their hometown.

Shortly after, another fan complained that the rapper had not paid for a portrait they had drawn of him. Edem explained that he had not requested the artwork and therefore did not owe any compensation.

A video of the interaction quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions.One of the fans, named Kayboi, stated:: “This is not necessary, Edem. This is how you lose the majority of your fanbase.”
