Ghana’s Gold Board has denied reports of any business relationship or contractual arrangement with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd. (SML), dismissing speculation of a partnership aimed at reforming the country’s gold sector.

In a statement posted to Facebook on Thursday, Acting Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi called the claims “entirely false,” warning the public to disregard what he described as misinformation.

“Fake news alert: The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has no dealings, contract, partnership or relationship whatsoever with SML,” Mr. Gyamfi said. “Any such claim is completely false and should be treated with utmost contempt.”

The statement comes amid heightened scrutiny over the role of private firms in Ghana’s extractive sectors, as the government moves to tighten oversight and improve transparency.
