The government of Ghana has announced the death of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, who passed away on Thursday after a short illness.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Government Communications, the government expressed its “deep regret” at her passing and extended condolences to her family. The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communications and spokesperson to the president, said: “Government extends its deepest condolences to her immediate family.”

Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings was a leading advocate for women’s rights and the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, which played a significant role in promoting gender equality and social welfare in Ghana.
She was the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, who led Ghana for nearly two decades.
